MADISON, WI (WSAU) - The man arrested for making a social media threat against the State Capitol was serious. Kvon Smith had four Molotov cocktails in his backpack when arrested by Capitol Police Tuesday. Investigators found Smith and the flammable liquid devices before he could do any harm. Police are recommending charges of creating a bomb scare, second degree recklessly endangering safety, and four counts of possessing a Molotov cocktail.
Smith had posted a Facebook comment, which authorities found out about before any harm could be done.
This all happened hours before Governor Scott Walker’s State of the State Address Tuesday.
Smith has had issues with the law before. He was involved in a disturbance at a Madison area mall where he had to be subdued by police. Smith has also filed a lawsuit claiming injustices within the legal system.
A family member is concerned that Smith may not be taking his medication for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
