MONTELLO, WI (WSAU) -  Three children and their mother survived a house fire near Montello Monday. The family was trapped in an upstairs room, and a firefighter went through the burning house to rescue them. The three children are all younger than 5-years-old, and were handed to another firefighter on a ladder. The mother was then assisted down the ladder.

One child is being treated at a Madison hospital. The rest of the family was kept at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital in Portage for treatment.
