Alan Jackson will headline a March 20 benefit concert at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium for a cause close to his heart. The 5th Annual Stars Go Blue concert raises money for the Colon Cancer Alliance's Blue Note Fund; and Alan and his wife Denise learned about the Alliance when she was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2010.
“It knocked us both down. It was so hard to watch her go through that,” Alan says. “We were dating at 16 and 17, and I pretty much took care of her from that point on. But when it came to this, I felt like there wasn’t a thing I could do. That rocked my world, as I’m sure it does every person who gets a cancer diagnosis."
Denise is now cancer-free, but the Jacksons remain committed to supporting others dealing with the disease through their work with the Blue Note Fund. That organization gives one-time grants to colon cancer patients having trouble meeting their financial obligations.
Tickets for the Stars Go Blue benefit concert go on sale this Friday morning through Ticketmaster and the Ryman box office.
