STANLEY, WI (WSAU) - A Stanley company that makes ethanol has a new partnership with a New York company. Ace Ethanol is hoping this new partnership with Sweetwater Energy will help get the ethanol production business going again.
The partnership will have Sweetwater Energy produce cellulosic sugar from non-food waste materials that Ace Ethanol can use in its production process. The plan is to use wood waste and crop residue instead of corn for some of their production. Company officials hope to reduce their use of corn in the production process by five to seven percent.
Corn is more expensive since it is also in demand as a food source.
Sweetwater Energy will build a plant in Stanley next to Ace Ethanol. It should be operational in mid-2014.
