MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - It’s Inauguration Day in Madison, and Republican John Spiros of Marshfield is one of the new state legislators being sworn-in today at the state capitol.
Sprios says he’s been waiting for today ever since the election. “I’m really excited! Two o’clock is the inauguration, and then after the inauguration they’re going to have a reception.”
Having worked in both law enforcement and transportation, Spiros says he’s very pleased with his committee assignments. He’ll be serving on the Transportation, Criminal Justice, Ways and Means, and the Children and Family committees.
The new legislature doesn’t actually hold their first working session until Thursday, and Sprios says he’s sure the mining bill and jobs will be among the first business for the new lawmakers.
Spiros will be representing Wisconsin’s 86th Assembly District, the seat formerly held by Jerry Petrowski.
Also being sworn-in Monday is Wausau-area Democrat Mandy Wright, who will be representing the 85th State Assembly district.
