Badgers struggle at foul line, narrowly beat Nebraska

MADISON (WSAU-TRN)  Ryan Evans registered his fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 15 rebounds to help the Wisconsin Badgers defeat the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 47-41, in a Big Ten Conference bout at the Devaney Center.

Jared Berggren netted a team-high 13 points for Wisconsin (11-4, 2-0 Big Ten) as it picked up its fifth win in a row. Mike Bruesewitz also made an impact by pulling down 10 rebounds.

Nebraska (9-6, 0-2) lost despite Ray Gallegos and Dylan Talley scoring 12 points each. Brandon Ubel added 10 points to go along with eight boards for the Cornhuskers, who have lost two straight.

The Cornhuskers knocked down 40.9 percent of their field goal attempts in the first period while they limited Wisconsin to 25.8 percent shooting, but the game went into halftime tied at 19.

The Badgers got it going after they break as they converted 12-of-22 second- half shots to create some distance on the scoreboard. Nebraska able to stay within striking distance as Wisconsin went just 2-of-10 at the free throw line over the finally 20 minutes. The hosts strong inside play made the difference, as the Badgers outscored Nebraska, 18-4, in the paint in the final 20 minutes.

Wisconsin held a narrow 38-35 edge in the rebounding battle to help overcome its 10 missed free throws.
