UNDATED (WKZO) – Over 85 percent of New Year’s resolutions are centered on eating healthier. Many find it hard to stick to their goals due to fast paced lifestyles leaving little time for cooking.
In an interview on Michigan’s Big Show starring Michal Patrick Shiels, Dr. John McDougall explains what he has concluded to be the fastest way to healthy weight loss on an easy diet.
Dr. McDougall says there is a specific diet that best supports the health of every mammal and, according to him, is the ideal diet for humans is based on starches.
In his book The Starch Solution, McDougall states that eating more rice, corn, beans and even potatoes is the secret to losing weight.
McDougall explains in his interview that recent research has shown people produce up to eight times more starch-digesting enzymes in their saliva than other primates.
McDougall proposes that this evidence affirms starches are the best suited foods for human physiology.
The diet recommended by McDougall consists of 70 percent starches, 10 percent fruit and 20 percent vegetables. Catch the entire interview with McDougall above.
