SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU) - Governor Scott Walker is wasting no time promoting mining as a vehicle for job growth in Wisconsin for 2013. The Governor is making stops in three cities today to discuss his “Mining for Jobs” agenda with workers in the manufacturing sector.
The tour starts in Green Bay at Valley Plating and Fabricating, where Walker will speak just after 10:00 a.m. From there, the Governor travels to Schofield to speak to workers at L & S Electric, Inc. at 12:25 p.m. The final stop of the day is a 2:45 p.m. talk with employees at Phoenix Products Company, Inc. in Milwaukee.
There has been talk about reintroducing mining legislation in the new session. A similar package that would have streamlined applications and made it easier for new mines to open failed last year by a slim 17-16 margin in the State Senate.
