MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) The Milwaukee Bucks expect to have their three newest players in uniform tonight, when they host the Atlanta Hawks. The Bucks acquired veteran guard J-J Redick, forward Gustavo Aron, and guard Ish Smith from Orlando just before Thursday’s N-B-A trade deadline.
Milwaukee gave up back-up guards Beno Udrih and Doron Lamb, and forward Tobias Harris.
The 28-year-old Redick told reporters yesterday he’ll do the best he can to give the Bucks their best playoff position possible. They hold the eighth-and-final Eastern Conference playoff spot by three-and-a-half games over Philadelphia – and they’re now two games behind Boston for the Number-seven slot.
Bucks’ general manager John Hammond said the deal is intended not only for the playoff run, but for the future as well. Redick will be a free agent at the end of the season. He says he’ll consider a longer-term deal with the Bucks – but he won’t decide that until this summer.
As for now, Redick hopes to get Milwaukee back on the winning track. The Bucks have lost six of their last seven, and they’re now a game under .500.
