Badgers Return To Top 25

MADISON, WI (WSAU) The Wisconsin men’s basketball team returned to the national Top-25 today, after upsetting then Number-three Michigan on Saturday. The Badgers are ranked 20th in the A-P media poll, and 19th in the U-S-A Today coaches’ survey.

Bo Ryan’s Wisconsin team has not been in the Top-25 of either poll since last November. Michigan dropped to Number-four on the A-P list. And despite losing to Illinois last week, Indiana remains at Number-One.

The Badgers’ are 17-and-7 overall. Their next game is on Thursday night at home against Minnesota, which is now one spot away from an A-P ranking. The Marquette men rose in both polls, after beating South Florida and De Paul last week. The Golden Eagles were 24th in both surveys a week ago. They’re now ranked 18th by the media and 20th by the coaches. Marquette is 17-and-5 overall. They’re tied with Syracuse for first in the Big East – but three teams from that league are ranked ahead of the Eagles by the media. That includes Number-15 Georgetown, where Marquette plays tonight. Meanwhile, the U-W Green Bay women have still not cracked the A-P Top-25 – something that’s become unusual for this time of year. The Phoenix are 19-and-2 with a 14-game winning streak – but they’re still one spot away from the A-P rankings. The Phoenix’ next game is on Thursday night at home against Cleveland State.
