STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) - Stevens Point’s second attempt to sell the middle of the former Centerpoint Mall has fallen through. The building that used to be occupied by Dunham’s Sports is back on the market because of parking issues.
Schertz-Fahrner LLC was set to buy and redevelop the building, but they wanted the parking area south of the building to always remain a parking area. Stevens Point officials don’t want to do that, knowing that space could be another future business site or perhaps a green space in the future.
The building was almost sold to Sara Investment Real Estate from Madison in November, but that deal fell apart for reasons that have not been disclosed.
Stevens Point officials are preparing another request for proposals as they seek a different developer to purchase the site.
