MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) - Carmen Santana had told her neighbor, if she ever died that neighbor should tell police her boyfriend killed her.

He did.

Darrick L. Bennett pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide last September in the beating and strangling death of Santana.

She was 30 years old and had shared an apartment with Bennett and his two children for about two years.

The neighbor told police Santana had told him the 42 year old Bennett was beating her up a lot lately.

Bennett was sentenced to 35 years in prison Friday.

If he gets out, he will then serve another 10 years on supervised release.
