Brewer Prospect Has Surgery

MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) Milwaukee Brewers’ pitching prospect Eric Arnett could miss the entire season after having knee surgery yesterday. Arnett, the Brewers’ first-round draft pick from 2009, tore an A-C-L ligament in his right knee while running earlier this year. He’s expected to be out for 5-to-6 months.

The 25-year-old Arnett was the 26th overall pick four years ago – but he suffered a drop in velocity and has gone 8-and-19 in four minor league seasons with a five-point-three-oh E-R-A. The right-hander was converted last year from a starter to a reliever, and he had a three-point-five-six E-R-A a year ago for Class-“A” Brevard County.

Once he recovers from his surgery, Brewers’ assistant general manager Gord Ash said Arnett would make to make up for lost time in an instructional league.

Five other players from Milwaukee’s 2009 draft are on the Brewers’ 40-man roster – including starter Mike Fiers, who went 9-and-10 for the Crew last season with a three-point-seven-four E-R-A.
