Wausau School District delays releasing holiday music investigation report

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Wausau school officials will wait until the new year to release a report on the school music controversy.

That file will be placed on the public record January 3. The delay is in place because the district has to give employees a chance to respond to comments and results in the report that affect them.

The district's attorney told the board Monday night that if they do wish to take disciplinary action against an employee named in the report, they'd have to sit on it while the action was decided in both the district and possibly in court.

Their decision to release the file means there's likely to be no action taken against a teacher in the district. That does not rule out action against an administrator. They fall under different guidelines under state law.

The District hired Kevin Terry from Ruder Ware in Wausau to compile that investigation after the controversy over proposed changes in holiday music in both the elementary schools and with the Wausau West Master singers.
