Nearly 500 still without power after storms hit northern Wisconsin

CRANDON, WI (WTAQ) - Almost 500 electric customers in northern Wisconsin were still without power this morning, after a series of heavy storms rumbled through the area Thursday night.

The Wisconsin Public Service utility reported almost 360 outages as of 7 a.m., mostly in the Crandon, Three Lakes, and Rhinelander areas.

Wisconsin Power and Light reported 61 outages in Menominee County, which was also hit hard by severe weather nine days ago. We Energies had about 25 outages in the Shawano area, and Xcel Energy said about 25 customers were out near Luck in northwest Wisconsin.

The storms took down trees in several parts of northern Wisconsin, and dumped hail in the northwest and 4 inches of rain in the Rhinelander area.

More rain is expected on and off throughout Wisconsin Friday, and during the Labor Day Weekend.
