Crosby Takes Pay Cut

GREEN BAY, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Green Bay Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby has reportedly re-structured his contract, so he would have to earn most of what he was going to be paid this year. Crosby was supposed to make two-point-four million dollars for this season. Media reports said only 800-thousand of it will be guaranteed if he’s on the roster the day before the Pack’s regular season opener at San Francisco on September eighth.

Crosby could make up the other one-point-six million with incentives and roster bonuses. His agent, Mike McCartney, confirmed that a restructuring was done, but he did not give the details.

Crosby, a six-year veteran, only made 64-percent of his field goal attempts last year. As a result, the Packers brought in Giorgio Tavecchio to compete against Crosby for most of Training Camp. Tavecchio was cut this week along with Zach Ramirez, who was brought in last Sunday as another challenger. As a result, Crosby is the only kicker on Green Bay’s roster at the moment.

The final two years of Crosby’s contract remain unchanged. He signed a five-year deal in 2011 for 14-and-three-quarter million dollars.
