STRATFORD, Wis. (WSAU) - A local businessman says more people like him should be in the Assembly.
Bob Kulp is running for the seat in the 69th State Assembly District now that Scott Suder is taking a position with the Public Service Commision. Bob Kulp says he's thought about running for office for a while. "It's a way to give back to the district and the area in a way I think I'm uniquely suited for. But really it's not about me, it's about me. It's about others and their concerns matter."
Kulp says he's already getting support from inside the Capitol. "I heard the overwhelming and unanimous cry that 'hey, we need more people down here that understand how to balance a budget, how to make the state not spend more than it takes in."
Kulp is now the second Republican to step up for the race, following the announcement from Deb Koncel who is the current Clark County Republican Party chairwoman.
No Democrats have stepped up to run in the race as of yet.
