MADISON, Wis. (WRN) - A Democratic state lawmaker is moving to quash rumors that she is leaving the Legislature.

There has been intense speculation at the Capitol that State Representative Amy Sue Vruwink (D-Milladore) was considering giving up her seat in the Assembly and going to work for the state Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. In a statement released today, Vruwink said that, while she appreciates being thought of as a leader in Agriculture, she plans to continue serving the state’s 70th Assembly District.

The Milladore Democrat says her brother is fighting pancreatic cancer, so she wants to focus on her family and her district.

Vruwink was one of several lawmakers rumored to be mulling a move out of the Legislature.

Assembly Republican Leader Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) is also believed to be considering a job with the state Public Service Commission.
