PLOVER, Wis. (WSAU) - Preliminary hearings have been set for a Wisconsin Rapids couple charged with breaking into a Plover home and stealing guns and a television.
24-year-old Antoinne Keys and his girlfriend 22-year-old Jessica Winters are charged with taking the items June 30th while the owner was away from home. Winters knew the owner was away, after having a conversation with him at a nightclub she worked at. Winters had also been invited inside the victim’s home before, and knew where the gun case was.
Twelve guns, including some rare hunting rifles were taken. The complaint says Keyes broke the television while stealing it and threw it in a dumpster. He told detectives he realized he made a mistake, and admits throwing the guns in the Wisconsin River at Wisconsin Rapids.
The couple allegedly discussed the robbery because of how broke they were, yet Winters was able to post a $7,500 cash bond to get out of jail. Keyes remains in jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
Both will be back in court with Judge Thomas Eagon for preliminary hearings. Keyes will appear September 3rd, and Winters will appear September 9th.
