MADISON, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The competition for the Wisconsin starting quarterback spot appears to be down to Curt Phillips and Joel Stave. Third-stringer Tanner McEvoy took snaps at receiver during yesterday’s public scrimmage in Madison.
The senior Phillips completed 6-of-11 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Stave threw 5-of-10 for 62 yards.
Coach Gary Andersen is expected to decide on a starter this week, as the Badgers get ready to open their season 11 days from now against Massachusetts at home.
