WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) - Two Wisconsin Rapids charter schools will be getting state grants to operate this school year.

Superintendent Colleen Dickmann says the two school are already running and these grants will go towards different things. The Mead Elementary Charter school is getting $125,000 in continuing dissemination grants. Dickmann says the dissemination grant will help Mead teach other schools about their methods. "They connect with other charters and districts who are interested in what they're doing, they have visitors from around the state and then give out presentations."

The THINK Academy is getting $200,000 in continuing implementation grant funding. Dickmann says that will help cover some of the costs to keep the school running. "What that means is they'll be implementing the innovative ideas they've studied and planned for."

Dickmann says she was hoping to get the money from the state, but that it's not a certain thing each year. Both schools have been operating in the district for some time.
