MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) - A federal appeals court has blocked a lawsuit against Grant County from the family of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual assault.
The parents of the boy say prosecutors were aiming for them because the boy's father was a local political figure. Police were called after the 6 year old was caught playing doctor with a 5 year old girl and her twin brother in 2010. Those charges were later dropped.
The parents wanted to sue for civil rights violations in the case. The US 7th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked that lawsuit, saying that the county investigators did overreact, but that their "poor judgment does not violate the Constitution."
