WESTON, Wis. (WSAU) - A benefit is being held in Weston for the Marathon County corrections officer that was hospitalized after an inmate attack.
It’s called Banding for Julie, and is a fundraiser for Julie Christensen. The wristbands cost $25.00.
Christensen was knocked to the jail floor by inmate Fredrick Morris in March, causing her to suffer a severe head injury. She spent months in the hospital.
Banding for Julie is a walk, run, or bike event using the Mountain Bay Trails in Weston. Activities start at Dale’s Weston Lanes at 9:00 a.m. So far, there are thirteen businesses sponsoring the event.
There will be food and refreshments available at the event.
