Tim McGraw has enjoyed an unbroken stream of hit songs for the better part of two decades now, and it shows no signs of slowing down. His last two singles -- "One of Those Nights" and "Highway Don't Care"-- both raced to the top of the country chart, and Tim's new song, "Southern Girl," seems to be following suit.
So, what's Tim's secret to keeping the hits flowing? It's simple enough: they just have to feel good.
Tim explains, "The ones that you really can tell are really working, that you like a lot are the ones that come out really easily because you’re not paying attention to it. You’re not working at it."
Often, when Tim finds a song he loves like "Southern Girl," he ends up lingering on it for hours in the studio.
Tim adds with a laugh, "You wanna keep singing it, keep singing it, keep singing it until the band’s like, ‘We got it. We don’t need to do this one anymore.’”
"Southern Girl" is included on Tim's current album, Two Lanes of Freedom , now in stores.
