UNDATED (WSAU) - When the Wisconsin fishing season opens next Saturday, some anglers may find themselves ice fishing. There is still some ice on many northern lakes.
The Department of Natural Resources says you can still ice fish, but they are warning you to use extreme caution and wear a life jacket. There’s still anywhere from 12 to 22 inches of ice on some of those lakes. However, Lake Winnebago has none.
All trout fishing streams are said to be open.
