GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) - The Green Bay Packers have signed QB Aaron Rodgers to a contract extension. That announced by GM Ted Thompson Friday afternoon.
Thompson told Packers.com that Rodgers “works hard, is humble, and is focused on his actions, on and off the field. He is an excellent teammate and pushes himself and others to be the very best. We are happy to reach an agreement to extend his career with the Packers.”
Rodgers plans to talk to the media at 4:30 p.m. Friday. This will make him the highest paid player in NFL history. The five year extension is for 110 million dollars, or 22 million a year.
Rodgers holds four of the top five single-season team records for passer rating, two of the top three for passing TDs, three of the top four for completion percentage and two of the top three for passing yards.
The Packers quarterback sent a message by Twitter Friday afternoon saying, "Big thanks to the Organization, our coaching staff, my teammates, and Packer nation for the last 8 years! Excited about 7 more!"
