Wausau East Names New Football Coach

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Wausau East High School announces the addition of Scott Mallien as a Social Studies Teacher and as the new Varsity Head Football Coach. Mallien replaces Steve Jung who resigned to become the new head coach at Neenah High School after two seasons with the Lumberjacks. Mallien will teach at Wausau East as well.

Coach Mallien brings an outstanding teaching and coaching resume to Wausau East. His head coaching career spans 12 years with stays at Green Bay Southwest High School as well as Peshtigo High School. He also has 15 years of assistant coach experience at the high school and collegiate level. Most recently he has served as the Defensive Coordinator at Notre Dame de la Baie Academy in Green Bay.

 From Athletic Director Greg Harvey:

“Scott is a great fit for our school. He is an excellent teacher in the classroom and a fantastic football coach. Furthermore, he displayed a real love for what he does, as well as a great desire to develop our young people, both in the classroom and on the playing fields. We could not be happier that Scott has made the decision to join the Lumberjack family.”
