Ice, slush likely played role in elderly couple's fatal traffic accident near Menomonie

by

MENOMONIE, WI (WTAQ) - Crash investigators say ice and slush may have played a role in a rollover accident in western Wisconsin Monday evening.

A married couple from Altoona died. Harvey Wick was 85 and his wife Ruth was 84. A passenger, 54 year old Judy Harris of Spooner, suffered minor injuries.

Authorities say their vehicle was eastbound on I-94 about 20 west of Menomonie when it went out of control on the pavement covered by slush and ice.

It crossed the median, hit the guardrail and rolled over, landing on a road below the interstate.
