STEVENS POINT, WI (WTAQ) - A soldier from Stevens Point has earned a Purple Heart for injuries he suffered when a roadside bomb detonated in Afghanistan.
Corporal Kyle Sepeda was manning the machine gun turret when the explosion happened.He suffered several injuries, including a concussion.
Sepeda was deployed with Regimental Combat Team 6 as part of a supply convoy.
The vehicle was disabled by the blast until its trailer was detached.
Sepeda and his team members had to unhook that trailer while under attack from small arms fire.
Sepeda was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries, but he is back with his unit now.
