MADISON, WI (WSAU) A Dane County judge has allowed a suit by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Association to move forward. The Attorney General’s Office had asked Judge John Markson to issue a stay.
The suit was filed last November alleging the governor’s collective bargaining law violates the union members’ free speech, association and equal protection rights. Judge Markson rejected the request.
The state Justice Department had wanted him to halt the legal action until an appeals court rules on another court’s decision to strike the law down as it applies to school and local government workers.
