March jobless rate unchanged, after slight revision from February

by

MADSION, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s unemployment rate was unchanged in March.

State officials said today that the seasonally-adjusted jobless rate was 7.1%.

That’s the same as in February, after that month’s rate was adjusted downward by a tenth-of-a-point from what was first reported.

The Badger State lost 11-hundred private sector jobs – well within the normal error margin, which makes the drop negligible.

Government jobs fell by around 7,400 – after there were 14,000 reported new public sector jobs in February.

That’s a large swing. State officials have questioned the accuracy of the monthly job figures, as compiled by the federal government.

It’s because only three-and-a-half percent of employers are surveyed about their job trends.
