BALDWIN, Wis (WRN) Lawmakers charged with considering Governor Walker’s proposed state budget will hold their final public hearing on the bill today. Members of the Joint Finance Committee will be at Baldwin-Woodville High School starting at 10 am, for the last of four public hearings on the biennial budget.
JFC co-chair John Nygren (R-Marinette) expects to hear many of the same comments made during the last three hearings in other parts of the state. He says the message will be largely consistent, although he expects some regional issues to come up from some of those testifying.
Previous hearings were in Green Bay, Wisconsin Dells, and Greendale. Democrats have also held their own hearings at multiple locations throughout the state.
Committee members are expected to begin the long process executive session process sometime next week. Those meetings will be used to determine whether the governor’s proposals will remain as they are written or if the Legislature will consider alternative plans.
