GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) Defensive lineman Johnny Jolly has not showed up at the Green Bay Packers’ voluntary conditioning workouts this week. But media reports say he’s expected to appear soon – possibly by the end of the week.
The 30-year-old Jolly has not played in three seasons, after numerous felony arrests for possessing codeine in his home area of Houston. N-F-L Commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Jolly on March fourth from a suspension during which he spent six months in prison.
He’s still under contract with the Packers, and he recently agreed to a pay cut which would give him around three-quarter-million dollars this season. Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy recently said he wants to find out how Jolly’s doing physically.
At that time, Jolly was working with court officials in Houston to try and let him leave Texas without violating his current probation. Jolly started every game in the 2008-and-’09 seasons before his suspension.
