STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) - The two Stevens Point police officers that saved a teenager’s life a month ago were honored before city leaders Monday.
Officer John Moss and Officer Joe Kramer were awarded commendations by the city for their quick thinking and life saving efforts.
Moss and Kramer caught a 15-year-old boy who ran away from councilors and tried to commit suicide by letting go of the Clark Street Bridge over the Wisconsin River.
Police Chief Kevin Ruder says, “As he let go, officers secured him and ended up bringing him back on the opposite side of the railing, in essence, saving his life.” The teen had let go of the railing when the officers caught him.
The incident happened March 15th. The boy has since been receiving counselling and medical attention.
