Gov's Office Announces Marathon County Sheriff Applicants


MADISON, WI (WSAU) 21 people are seeking appointment as Marathon County Sheriff. Gov. Scott Walker's office made the names public yesterday.

Among the familiar names are Chief Deputy Scott Parks, Kronenwetter Police Chief Dan Joling, Lt. Gary Schneck who heads the dept's drug unit, and retired Everest Metro Chief Dan Vergin.

The others seeking the appointment are Dale Wisnewski, Harlyn Woodward, Scott Sleeter, Gale Baerenwald, Joel Flewellen, Stephanie Stilen, Brian Fiene, Herbet Gies, Frank Hanousek Jr, Ralph Sliwicki, Benjamin Seidler, Ebert Nitzke, Dale Knapp, Ryan Miller, James Reist, Sean McCarthy, and one unnamed person lised as "confidential entry".

The Governors office has said that the selection process will be lengthy and could take weeks. The appointed person would replace Randy Hoenisch who recently retired. The new person would fill out the rest of Hoensich' term
