Rhinelander man loses appeal after conviction for contributing to daughter's death

MADISON, WI  (WXPR)  -  The Wisconsin Supreme Court has ruled against a Rhinelander man convicted in 2010 of contributing to the death of his daughter.

25 year old Matthew Lonkoski reached a plea agreement in Oneida county in May, 2010 and was sentenced to five years in prison for the death of his young daughter. She was found not breathing at an apartment in the town of Pelican in May of 2009.

Lonkoski appealed his conviction saying he wasn't properly informed of his Miranda rights prior to talking to investigators. The State Supreme Court this week agreed with an Appeals Court determination that Lonkoski had been informed before he spoke with law enforcement.

The child's mother, Amanda Bodoh was found not guilty of child neglect by a jury in January of 2010.
