MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) Brewers’ left-hander Chris Narveson has been put on the 15-day disabled list, after he sprained his left middle finger while warming up in the bullpen on Saturday night.
Manager Ron Roenicke didn’t make the news public until last night. He said it was a reason that he tried to get a rare second inning out of John Axford in Sunday’s 11-inning home loss to Arizona. Axford gave up a homer to Wisconsin native Eric Hinske in his second inning of work.
Meanwhile, Narveson’s injury gives the Brewers the chance to add a position player – which the team badly needs after running out of them in the late innings on Sunday. Catcher-first baseman Blake Lalli is expected to be called up today from Triple-“A” Nashville.
