As Halloween approaches next week, Hunter Hayes is looking back on one of his favorite costumes from childhood -- a skeleton. It was basically a black suit with bones painted on it, and Hunter had some fun with friends while wearing it.
He says, "I laid down like I was dead, like I was some kind of mannequin or something and then as the kids would come closer I’d jump up and scare the daylights out of them."
While Hunter still loves to catch people off guard, he adds, "I try for more pleasant surprises these days."
Hunter may be too busy to dress up for Halloween this year since it falls on the night before the CMA Awards on November 1. He's up for New Artist of the Year at that show, airing live on ABC that night at 8 ET.
