Jacobson loses appeal, remains jailed

MADISON, WI (WSAU) -  A man in prison for firing shots at Forest County Sheriff’s deputies thirteen years ago will stay in prison. The state appeals court says 31-year-old Robert Jacobson was properly convicted of his crimes. Jacobson was sentenced to 36 years in prison, so he still has 23 years left on his sentence.

Jacobson has filed and lost several appeals since his conviction. In this most recent appeal, he claimed prosecutors didn’t have enough evidence and that false testimony against him was never corrected. The 3rd District Court of Appeals said Wednesday he should have brought the evidence issues up years ago.

Defense attorney Robert Henak may ask the State Supreme Court to hear Jacobson’s appeal.
