County seeks clean up of Jost property

AMHERST, WI  (WSAU)  -  The property of a jailed Portage County man may get cleaned up.

Charles Jost remains jailed accused of Social Security fraud for allegedly working with his sister and brother-in-law to cash his mother’s check. Portage County has filed a zoning enforcement action as the first step to getting a court order to clean up the filthy property. The Alm Road property has tarps and plywood making a shelter against an old bus. There are old bikes, tires, cardboard, and garbage scattered on the land. County officials say there’s little that can be salvaged, and it could take ten dumpsters to haul the junk away. The property is also considered a health hazard because human waste was found on the site.

Jost makes an initial appearance on the fraud charges in court today.

Ronald and Dolores Disher of Almond are also charged with fraudulently cashing their missing mother’s Social Security checks, and remain jailed.
