WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Repairs are underway to fix a leaking water main on Wausau's west side. The leak underneath 14th Avenue near Bos Creek may have been costing the city up to a-million gallons of water a day --- or about one-quarter of what the water work's pumps on a daily basis.
The city was aware of the water loss, but wasn't sure where the problem was until a consulting firm found the problem earlier this month. The pipe was shut down a week ago.
Materials and work crews arrived in the area yesterday. The repairs should be finished by the end of the week.
