MADISON, WI (WSAU) It has been 18 long years since Minnesota’s Golden Gophers were able to parade Paul Bunyan’s Battle Axe after a victory at Camp Randall Stadium. Though Wisconsin’s neighbor to the west leads the all-time series 58-55, with eight ties, the Badgers have won 15 of the last 17 games.
Bucky is a two and a half touchdown favorite today, according to the odds-makers. And, the timing bad, at least for Minnesota. A slumbering Wisconsin offense came to life while pounding Purdue for 645 total yards last week. At the same, an optimistic early part of the season has come apart the last two weeks as Iowa and Northwestern have gouged the Gopher defense, mostly on the ground.
Wisconsin has also won eight in a row against their neighbors and the Badgers are going for their 21st straight win at Camp Randall. That’s the second-longest home winning streak in the nation.
