WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Details released Monday in the Lee Xiong murder case have linked that case to a fatal shooting in Eau Claire earlier this month.
According to the criminal complaint, murder suspect Richi Vue obtained the stolen truck and handguns recovered in the case from a person he called "Choco". Chocho was a known alias of Christian Peterson, the man killed in a shootout with Eau Claire police twelve days ago.
Peterson was wanted by Marathon County authorities for escape. Judge Vincent Howard issued an arrest warrant for him on October 2nd. Peterson had a long history of past criminal charges including making and trafficking methamphetamines, burglary, and resisting arrest.
Police in Eau Claire said they had no information about this statement, and were not the ones in charge of the investigation of the shooting in Eau Claire. They referred information requests to the Department of Criminal Investigation in Madison.
A Department of Justice spokesperson told WSAU today that they have no information tying the two cases together.
Richi Vue remains in jail on a million dollar cash bond, and is awaiting a preliminary hearing October 25th.
