WAUSAU,WI (WSAU) - Investigators from several law enforcement agencies will be meeting Wednesday to compare evidence, as it appears some recent crimes may be connected.
The Weston homicide from Saturday may have been committed with a stolen 40 caliber handgun matching the description of one taken in a robbery at Condition One Gun Shop Sunday, September 30th. It was one of two guns recovered from a stolen Ford pickup that suspect Richi Vue was driving when apprehended by Clark County deputies after the murder. The other gun found in the truck matches a 357 magnum taken from Statton’s General Store in Tomahawk on Monday, October first.
The agencies will discuss cases and compare evidence today. It may take a while before ballistics testing is completed on the one handgun to determine if it was the murder weapon that killed 20-year-old Lee Xiong.
Police are hoping to produce leads on approximately fifty other stolen weapons as well as more details on the homicide case. They are also likely to discuss possible drug crime connections and any relationship to 24-year-old Christian A.N. Peterson of Wausau, who was killed confronting Eau Claire Police Friday, October 5th. Peterson is believed to have stolen the pickup from a Wausau car dealer before Richi Vue acquired possession of it and the handguns.
