WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -

An explosion shook a Wausau business area Thursday evening. The underground blast caused three manhole covers to fly into the air at about 5:45 p.m. The blast happened in between La Quinta Hotel and Furniture and Appliance Mart on Stewart Avenue. The hotel was evacuated for a short time. Firemen needed about half-an-hour to control the fire that followed the explosion.
