MADISON, WI (WSAU) Wisconsin men’s basketball forward Mike Bruesewitz (broo’-seh-witz) will be out for the next 4-to-6 weeks, after he had surgery for a severe laceration on his lower right leg. The U-W said today that Bruesewitz has started his rehabilitation, after being released following his operation Tuesday night. He was playing basketball when he dived out-of-bounds, and awkwardly came in contact with the back half of a basket-standard.
The Badgers are scheduled to start their official practices on Saturday – and Bruesewitz may or may not be ready to return for Wisconsin’s regular season opener on November 11th at home against Southeastern Louisiana.
Bruesewitz averaged around five-and-a-half points and five rebounds a game last season, and he started all 36 games for Wisconsin a year ago. He has played 98 career games with the Badgers, starting exactly half those contests.
