STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) - Portage County Supervisors will have their first budget discussions Tuesday evening. County Executive Patty Dreier says this budget proposal is a tight budget, but a good one, and still allows the county to maintain services without increasing the tax levy.
Dreier says they were able to incorporate some changes that mean more services in an area with a big jump in demand, and that’s child support services.
The county’s portion of the tax rate is proposed at 5.25 per thousand dollars of property value. The overall budget increases 1-point-7 percent.
Supervisors meet at 5-o-clock to start discussing the new budget.
