MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - The first trial is scheduled to begin Monday morning in connection with the two-year-old John Doe investigation into Governor Scott Walker’s former Milwaukee County aides.
Barring a last-second plea deal, a jury will be picked to hear the case of 62-year-old Kevin Kavanaugh. He’s charged with embezzlement and four counts of theft by fraud – all felonies – for allegedly stealing $42,000 donated to an annual Milwaukee County Zoo event that honors veterans.
Kavanaugh was on the Milwaukee County Veteran Service Commission at the time.
He’s one of five aides charged with various crimes when they served under Walker when he was the Milwaukee County executive.
Kavanaugh’s trial is scheduled to run through Friday.
