MARSHFIELD, WI  -  A Marshfield veteran was honored Friday night by his high school during a special homecoming ceremony. Staff Sergeant Joseph Altmann was a three sport athlete for Marshfield Columbus Catholic High School a decade ago. The former linebacker, basketball, baseball, and band member went on to serve as a military medic for seven years. Altmann was killed by an insurgent attack in Afghanistan on Christmas Day 2011.

During halftime of the Spencer/Columbus vs. Osseo/Fairchild game, The school retired his #33 football jersey.
