MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Manufacturing continues to slow down in southeast Wisconsin.
That’s according to Marquette University and the Milwaukee chapter of the Institute for Supply Management.
Their monthly index on the health of local factory business was 45.5 for November. Anything below 50 shows a decline – even though the November figure was slightly bigger than October’s index of 43.3.
The regional economy has been slow for five months in a row. And it was the 5th time that the seasonally-adjusted manufacturing index had dropped below 50 since July of 2009.
Friday’s report said manufacturers are bracing for tax increases in 2013 as Washington tries to chip away at large federal deficits.
The factory employment index for the Milwaukee region is declining as well. It was 47.9 in November.
